S. Harris & Co. was hired by the building's owner to
assess the structural feasibility of proposed alterations to an existing
one-story building. The alterations consist of substantial demolition of
the roof and interior structural line. An insignificant amount of
unspecified members may be salvaged. Since the renovation will result in a
complete interior replacement, the remaining engineering issue was the
structural capacity of the exterior walls to support the proposed renovation.
The proposed structure will have two stories; one story at existing grade level
and one story at an intermediate level; and a new roof. The firm assessed
the existing structure and found that the program, as described to us, could be
executed successfully. |
