Loudoun Mansion  Philadelphia, PA

Loudoun, an historic house located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, was exhibiting signs of water infiltration in various locations throughout the building. S. Harris & Co. was hired to review these locations, to find the probable cause of the water infiltration, and to make recommendations for remediation.

As is the case with many historic homes, the condition of the roofing as well as some poor drainage was found to be the cause of the water damage. Rising damp, which is associated with improper drainage, was found to contribute to the problem as well. With this report, the Fairmount Park Historic Commission now has a scheme for improving their roof drainage and inhibiting the water infiltration, thereby protecting this historic building.
